How To Clean Snow Off Your Car Without Leaving Scratches

The phrase "it's cold enough to snow" definitely rings true during the winter months.  Most people admire the beauty of the ground blanketed in white, and enjoy making snow angels and having snow ball fights.  Yes, snow is all fun and games until you have to drive somewhere.  Cleaning snow off your car is tiring, physically demanding, and a downright pain in the neck.

What choice do you have? You know you have to go to work, or get the kids to school.  Grab your shovel and layer yourself in warm clothes, this is how you dig yourself out of a storm.

  1. Allow yourself plenty of time to clean the car.  If you know you have to be somewhere by 8:00am, plan to start cleaning your car at least an hour prior.
  2. Clean off the drivers side door and the surrounding area.  This will prevent snow from falling into your car when you open the door.
  3. Start the car.  This will help warm the car, thus melting the snow and making it easier to remove.
  4. Use a brush to clean the hood of your car.  Avoid using hard objects so that the car doesn't get scratched.
  5. Clean the windshield.
  6. Clean the windows so you can see when driving.
  7. Clean the back of the car.
  8. Remove as much snow from the roof as possible.  It is dangerous to other drivers when you leave snow on your car roof.  When the snow flies off it obstructs the view of other road-goers. In some cities it is even illegal to drive with snow on your car roof.
  9. Remove ice from the windshield wipers to allow them to work properly.

Voila! You're ready to go! Wantagh Mitsubishi offers new and pre-owned vehicles at a great price! Stop by our showroom to see what special savings we've got going on! For more snow removal tips, click here!

Mitsubishi On The Big Screen

The future of the movie Fast and Furious 6 is still unknown, leaving people on the edge of their seats in anticipation of what would come of the beloved characters and their show-stopping cars.

Mitsubishi played a major role in these movies.  The 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse made its big screen debut in the first Fast and Furious movie, driven by the late Paul Walker.  This green and blue vehicle quickly became one of the most iconic cars driven in the movie and left such a lasting impression on audience members that a Mitsubishi car appeared in the second installment of the franchise.

The 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse Spyder was driven by actor Tyrese, who played a long time friend of Paul Walker's character.  This time, the car was a convertible with a silver and purple webbed design on the side.  The Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution VIII also made an appearance in Tokyo Drift, the third movie in the franchise.

Wantagh Mitsubishi offers quality cars through a pleasant, no-pressure sales experience.  Stop by our showroom or visit us online to see our new and pre-owned vehicles and unbelievable savings!

A Virginia man escaped death after an Amtrak train hit his car at 5:57a.m. on Route 40 in Waverly, Virginia.  The train, traveling 80 mile per hour, struck the vehicle of Untron Drew after he blatantly ignored a crossing bar and flashing lights.  Drew, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was med flighted to a hospital in Richmond where he was treated for non life-threatening injuries.

Police have begun to investigate the crash, claiming alcohol was a definite factor.  Although none of the train passengers or crew were injured, police have charged Drew with reckless driving, failure to obey crossing signals, and not wearing a seatbelt.

17 Items You Should Always Carry In Your Car

The winter weather has made its unfortunate debut, and this means less than perfect driving conditions for fellow road-goers.  In the case of an emergency, every car should be equipped with the appropriate safety gear.  Check out these 17 items that you should always carry in your car:

  1. Flashlight- If you get stuck at night and need to see into the car or under the hood, a flashlight is a good tool to have.
  2. Tire-pressure gauge- Tire pressure should be checked once per month.
  3. First-aid kit- For minor injuries that don't require a 911 call.
  4. Owner's manual- To help you identify a blown fuse.
  5. Tire-changing tools- A jack and other tools are essential to have in a car.  Flat tires are unfortunate but common.
  6. Warning Triangles- Give fellow drivers a warning that there is a stopped vehicle ahead.
  7. Multi-tool- The multi-tool should include at least a knife, pliers, screwdriver tips and scissors for wire cutting and other needs.
  8. Fuses- Will help you fix common electrical issues.
  9. Jumper Cables- Forget to turn your head-lights off? Jump start your car battery with jumper cables.
  10. Duct Tape- Tape can temporarily mend many things, such as a broken window.
  11. Map or Atlas- Just in case your GPS is acting up.
  12. Paper Towels- Clean up spills that may occur in the car, or check your oil.
  13. Spare Key- Just in case you lock your keys inside the car, which has happened to one too many of us.  Hide the spare key in a magnetic key case behind the bumper.
  14. Pale or Bucket- This can be used to store all of your safety tools.  It can also be used to carry water to refill the radiator.
  15. Garbage Bags- Another tool that can be used to mend broken windows, or to cover a muddy ground when you need to change a tire.
  16. Gloves- Allow you touch hot parts underneath the hood of the car.
  17. Old Cellphone- Even a deactivated phone can call 911.  Keep it as a spare just in case your phone dies or has no service.

For more tips on how to use these tools, click here.

Mitsubishi's Plan to Slash Prices!

Mitsubishi delivers good news for drivers who love electric cars! The company plans to slash the price of its I-MiEV electric car $6,130, making the total cost before tax credit and other incentives $23,845.  The car also includes more standard features, such as heated seats; side mirror defrosters, rear door stereo speakers, leather steering, fog lights and daytime running lights.  Fans of these electric cars should take this price cut as a sign the market is healthy and competitive.

There are many benefits to having an electric vehicle.  It's main feature is the low cost of fuel.  Electricity from the cars battery allows you to travel three times as far as that of a car running on gasoline.  And let's not forget the money you will save on weekly gas trips!

Safe Holiday Driving Tips

Our cars often turn into a mobile home during the holiday season.  They are filled with car games, snacks, blankets and pillows.  We do everything from eat to apply makeup on our way to our family members' houses and on the ride home those seats turn into beds.  Traveling during the holidays is not always easy, especially during the winter months.  Snow and rain provide unsafe weather conditions combined with freezing temperatures. Keep these safety tips in mind when you venture off on another holiday road trip this year!

  • Go for a tune up. Before you venture off on a road trip make sure your car is working properly.  Have your tires, battery, belts and fluids checked by your mechanic.
  • Get a good night's sleep.  Driving while tired is unsafe in any kind of weather.
  • Double-check your car seats. If you are traveling with children make sure the car seat is installed properly.
  • Keep the weight down. Store the heavy presents low to the ground so they are not thrown in the case of an immediate stop.  The same goes for suitcases or heavy bags.

Drive Safely on Halloween

Thursday is Halloween, one of spookiest nights of the year, but also a night where the streets are heavily populated.  Children are dressed up and excited, running house to house to get their candy.  Which is why it is very important to drive extra safely on this particular day.  This extra excitement will cause children as well as adults to move in unpredictable ways, like running across the street or even jumping out from behind things to give someone a scare.  This is why you must be alert while driving and follow these safety tips.
  • SLOW DOWN and be especially alert in residential neighborhoods.
  • Take extra time to look for kids at intersections, on medians, curbs and before leaving a stop sign.
  • Enter and exit driveways and alleys slowly and carefully.
  • Eliminate any distractions inside your car, including your phone, so you can focus on the road.
  • Drive slowly, anticipate heavy pedestrian traffic and turn your headlights on earlier in the day.
  • Popular trick-or-treating hours are 5:30 to 9:30 pm so be especially alert during those hours.
Wantagh Mitsubishi provides safe vehicles with available back-up cams to keep you and your surroundings safe.

Prepare your Vehicle for the Winter

October is Fall Car Care Month!  As the month comes to an end it is really time to make sure that your car is ready for the colder weather.  Taking a few simple steps now can save you the headache and the cost of an emergency breakdown later.  You can bring your car down to Wantagh Mitsubishi and we will take care of everything for you.  If you decide to take care of it yourself the Car Care Council recommends five proactive steps to make sure your car is ready for winter driving.
  1. Battery - You should keep the battery connections clean, tight and corrosion-free.  The cold weather is harsh on batteries, so it's wise to check the battery and charging system.  A battery should be replaced every three years.
  2. Heater, Defrosters and Wiper Blades - Check that the heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) system are working properly as it is critical for interior comfort and for safety reasons, such as defrosting.  Wiper blades that are torn, cracked or don't properly clean your windshield should be replaced.
  3. Tires - Check the tires, including the pressure and tread depth, which are essential for traction when it snows.  Uneven wear on your tires indicates a need for wheel alignment.  If snow and ice are a problem in your area, consider special tires designed for gripping slick roads.
  4. Brakes - Have your brake system checked, including brake linings, rotors and drums.  Brakes are critical to vehicle safety and are even more important when driving on slippery roads.
Taking preemptive action to get your vehicle ready for the winter is very important, for more information and full checklist please visit http://goo.gl/4zgsqH.

Mitsubishi Mirage

The Mitsubishi Mirage has not yet started sales in the United States.  This is not a fashion focused car, but focuses more on its sensible transport for those who want great gas mileage.  Mitsubishi's last subcompact car was called the Colt, was never sold in the US.  The Mirage made its U.S. debut at the 2013 New York Auto show and will reach showrooms this fall, but it recently went on sale in Europe.
In Europe, the 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage is offered with a choice of two three-cylinder, 12-valve engines, a 1.0- or a 1.2 liter, but only the latter will be offered in the U.S.  It produces 74 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 74 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm and will be available with either a five-speed manual or a continuously variable transmission.  But Mitsubishi expects the Mirage's running costs to be among the lowest on the road.  It will be the most fuel-efficient non-hybrid gasoline vehicle available in the U.S. It is expected to get around 37 mpg city and about 44 mpg highway.  For more information on the Mirage and its review please visit http://goo.gl/rHSIFc

Like us on Facebook and Follow us on Twitter for updates on when the Mirage will be available in our showrooms.

Long Island Auto Show at the Coliseum

Are you a car lover who lives on Long Island?  If so, lucky for you the Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale is hosting an Auto Show this weekend!  The Long Island Auto Show is open from October 18th through the 20th.  The Coliseum will host more than 150 new cars, SUVs and trucks along with several impressive classic car collections.
This is a great opportunity to see so many cars in a single location.  Have you ever wanted to sit in a corvette, even though it is out of you price range?  Almost every car is unlocked and the show embodies a very laid back environment that encourages people to interact with the cars.  Like many auto shows, there are no sales permitted on the floor, so there is no pressure to buy when checking out a few hot-rods.  Dealers are eager to show off their new inventory and are willing to answer any questions you have about any particular car.  It allows prospective car buyers a chance to view cars from every automaker under one roof.  For those who are looking to actually drive, Ford and Scion are each bringing vehicles to test drive.  For more info on the Auto Show visit http://goo.gl/riUO4G.

Fall Car Care

October is Fall Car Care Month!  This is a great reminder to make sure your vehicle is ready for the harsh winter weather ahead.  Taking a few simple steps now to prepare can save you many headaches in the future.  The Car Care Council recommends five important steps to prepare your car for winter driving:
  1. Battery- Be sure to keep the battery connections clean, tight and corrosion-free.  Cold weather is tough on batteries, so it is important to check the battery and charging system.  Batteries typically do not give warning signs before they fail, so batteries should be replaced every 3 years.
  2. Heater, Defrosters and Wiper Blades - Heating, ventilating and air conditioning (HVAC) must work properly to ensure interior comfort as well as for safety reasons, like defrosting windows. Generally wiper blades should be replaced every six months.
  3. Tires - Check the tires, including the tire pressure and tread depth.  During the winter month tire traction may be the most important safety precaution.  If snow and ice are a problem in  your are, consider purchasing special tires designed to grip slick roads.
  4. Brakes - Have your break system checked by a professional.  That includes brake linings, rotors and drums.  Brakes are critical in car safety when driving on ice or snow covered roads.

Mitsubishi Outlander PHEV by 2014?

It looks like the US is going to have to wait a little longer to see sales of the Mitsubishi PHEV plug-in hybrid.  Mitsubishi is experiencing a production stoppage caused by battery issues along with a very high demand from Japan and Europe.

It seems as though a year from now would be the earliest that we could see sales of the plug-in hybrid SUV on our shores.  Production of the SUV did however launch in its home country earlier this year.  The new Outlander PHEV can travel about 34 miles on battery power alone and also achieves roughly 143 MPGe, according to number issued when the car was unveiled in Paris in 2012.  The power train also features two electric motors that separately power the two axles and a gasoline engine that can either be used as a generator for the motors or to power the wheels directly.  To read more about the Outlander PHEV please visit http://goo.gl/4f1uTk.

How to Make Your Car Feel Brand New

Just because your car is brand new doesn't mean that it has to look used.  Most of us grow tired of our used cars long before they are used up.  There is no need to get rid of a car that is running well because it looks worn down or beat up.  When given the right care, cars built in the last 10-15 years can run for 200,000 or even 300,000 miles.  Popular Mechanics lists many cheap and easy ways to make your car feel new again.
  1. Clean Everything- Taking your car to the car-wash is nice but an extremely detailed clean can make a car feel brand new.  Shampoo the carpet and upholstery, clear out the trunk, remove seat cushions and clean every nook and cranny.  VACUM.
  2. Fix the Cockpit- Focus on the areas you are actually touching.  A steering wheel and dashboard cover can be a great investment.  Make sure your dashboard illumination is up to par.
  3. Clear the Headlights-  Vehicle built in the last couple decades usually have plastic composite headlamps that weather and dull over time.  There are many headlight restoration kits on the market for under $30.
  4. Repair the A/C- Like a normal home air conditioner, you car's AC unit can suffer buildups of mold, mildew and bacteria.  Cleaning out the system will bring in a cleaner flow of air and make your car's cabin much more enjoyable to be in.
  5. Rubber Repair-  Most cars have a lot of rubber trim in various areas.  Tears and wear on these rubber trims can lead to the common howling sound we often hear.
If you have really given up on your old car, come down to our Showroom at 3460 Sunrise Highway or visit us online at www.wantaghmitsu.com and consider one of our many affordable payment plans.

Baby Safety Month

September is National Baby Safety Month!  You should take this month to remind yourself how important the safety of your baby really is.  This is a good reminder to make sure you are following these precautions to keep your bundle of joy as safe as possible.

Keeping your infant or toddler safe in  your car begins with car seat safety.  Keep your child safe by ensuring the correct use of the right car seat every time.  Be certain that everyone is buckled in, including adults.  Children should never ride in front of an air bag, whether they are in a car seat or not.  If they are in a car seat they should be in the back and rear facing, until they are at least 2 years-old.  Most car seats are designed to remain rear facing until 30 pounds or more.
For good checklist for children of all ages please visit http://goo.gl/18gOmX

Wantagh Mitsubishi encourages everyone to practice baby safety all year round especially in a moving vehicle.  Come to our showroom or visit us online at www.wantaghmitsu.com to buy one of our extremely safe vehicles!

So if car color and personality do go hand in hand, what does your vehicles paint job say about you?  See more here: http://goo.gl/2fjXFz

The Mitsubishi Outlander has been redesigned for 2014.  The IIHS Top Safety Pick + is very child friendly especially for car seats.  It now features higher-quality materials in the interior and a sleeker, sporty looking exterior.  Like the previous models it can either fit 5 passengers in two rows or seven with an optional third row.  Despite the stiff seat leather, the two sets of lower latch anchors in the second row, are actually quite easy to reach.  The forward facing convertible car seat, installed easily in the second row, and the front passenger did not have to move their seat up to accommodate the seat.  The booster seat also fit well in the second row, and the seat belt buckles are on rigid stalks, making it easier for kids to use independently.  Visit http://goo.gl/KJmGRC to see more of what cars.com loved about the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander.

Protecting the Valuables in Your Car

All Mitsubishi vehicles have top notch available security systems, but you can never be too careful.  Car security is just as important as car safety, to ensure that your valuables stay safe and secure in your vehicle, follow these tips from http://goo.gl/kTBdOx:

  1. Lock your doors - Always lock your doors both inside and outside your vehicle.  Locking your doors is the most basic and obvious step of car safety.  A high percentage of car break-ins are due to negligence or carelessness.
  2. Park in a well-lit, public area - Be aware of where you park your car, even the loudest alarms and sturdiest car doors are no match for a determined thief with a crowbar.
  3. Don't store valuables in your car - Even if your car is insured, it is likely that your valuables are not.  Even if you feel you parked your car in a safe environment, it is smart to keep your valuables on you at all times.  If you do need to store them in your car, make sure they are out of plain sight, like in your glove compartment, under the seat or even in the trunk.
  4. Be alert -  Be alert of your surroundings when walking back to your car.  Some thieves will view you as their way into your car.  If you feel unsafe call a friend while walking and have your keys in your hand, so you can get into your car faster.
Buy a Mitsubishi vehicle and follow these steps and be sure that your car and your valuables will always be safe.  Visit our siteFacebook page and Follow us on Twitter for more tips and updates.

Mitsubishi Montero Could Return 2016

According to an article on leftlanenews.com the Mitsubishi Montero could return to the U.S. in 2016.  Mitsubishi has been experiencing a lot of success with its other SUV the Outlander, which could be a reason for bringing the Montero back into the line-up.  The Montero remains in production in other parts of the world, but hasn't been produce since 2006 in the U.S. market.  Ten years could be enough for this SUV that looks to add diversity to Mitsubishi's SUV market.  With delays in the plan for a Gallant-replacing mid-size sedan, it could be the perfect time to bring back the Montero nameplate to the U.S. automobile market.

Customer Reviews

It seems like the great reviews for the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander are going to continue to roll in.  It is becoming very hard to find a bad review, the internet is just getting flooded with praise for our newly designed Outlander!  The Outlander combines performance and safety, and was awarded the IIHS top Safety Pick +.  Read some reviews maybe you will want to buy your own.

Vancouver Sun [Canada], 7/2/2013
"Compared with the outgoing model, the new interior is light years ahead. Materials are improved, the ergonomics are better and the cabin is quite a bit quieter than in previous generations."
"That quietness was put to the test during a test drive from Vancouver to Squamish, B.C., that included a good chunk of off-roading over gravel roads and some rather rough terrain. Despite the twists and turns putting strain on the chassis, the cabin remained pretty silent other than the groans of its occupants as we went over some shock-inducing rocks."
"The off-roading also let us test out Mitsubishi€ ™s two four-wheel drive systems: All-Wheel Control on ES and SE trims and Super All-Wheel Control on the GT. Both handled the terrain without any issues, going up and coming back down from 2,000 feet above sea level."
Nanaimo Daily News [Canada], 7/3/2013 online
"The revised bi-level nose is much neater with a shallow two-bar chrome grille flanked by integrated headlight clusters. The lower air intake is much less obtrusive than the previous model while the body sides are smoother with a simple style ridge defining the 'waist' that runs from the headlights to the taillights. The overall impression is mature and conservative rather than the bold and daring look of the previous model."
"The wind-cheating profile with roof grooves and rear roof spoiler is seven per cent more efficient, registering a remarkably low 0.33 co-efficient of drag (as good or better than some sports coupes). Combined with a reduction in overall weight and a more efficient powertrain, the 2014 Outlander now delivers best-in-class fuel economy."
"One thing I always appreciate in Mitsubishi models is the driver oriented cockpit design. All the controls and gauges are logically placed, easy to read and reach."
"The Sportronic transmission will do all the work or you can enjoy a greater measure of control - and fun - by using the magnesium paddle shifters. Greater use of sound deadening materials makes the cabin quiet as a vault and the new electric power steering is light and direct."
"When the second and third rows are folded flat you get a very useful 1,792 liters (63.3 cu-ft) of cargo capacity. And new for 2014 is the one-piece power lift gate that makes stowing and going much easier. "

Satisfied Customers

Mitsubishi is very proud of all the awards and praise that the New Outlander is receiving.  It is receiving stellar reviews all over the internet.  We would like to share a few of these them with you here.

automedia 6/26/2013
"The new Outlander is seven-percent more aerodynamic than the outgoing vehicle, and that helps fuel economy."
"The Outlander's ride ... is quite good, as the suspension soaks up most bumps quite well."
"Mitsubishi has added more sound-deadener for a quieter environment, the dash is covered in a substantial soft-touch material, and buyers can opt for niceties such as heated seats and leather upholstery. We like the dashboard design and control layout, too. The center stack is angled toward the driver, and the controls are easy to use and locate."
"It is the most fuel-efficient seven-passenger crossover on the market."

Scripps Howard News Service (syndicated, New York Newsday, et. al.) 6/27/2013
"The CVT on the four-banger transmits the engine's power smoothly with no shift points and no sense that the transmission is slipping, as with some CVT units."
"With either engine, the electric power steering provides solid straight-line tracking and good control around corners."
"The suspension system delivers a decent ride with enough stiffness to prevent heeling over around curves."
"Inside, the ambiance is quiet with a near total lack of wind or mechanical noise, abetted by generous applications of sound-deadening materials. Instruments and controls are functional and laid out in a simply designed dash that, on the test car, featured classy faux wood-grain accents."
"Outboard seats in back, which have adjustable backrests, are comfortable with plenty of head and knee room."

wheels.ca [Canada] (syndicated, Toronto Star, et. al.) 6/28/2013
"Like most SUV third rows, it’s pretty cramped back there, but it’s easy to access and offers more space than before. Your kids won’t mind it at all."
"Cough up an extra $5,000 for the GT and you’ll get all the stuff of premium dreams: lane-departure warning, adaptive cruise control and a surprisingly effective “forward-collision mitigation” system that will jam on the brakes up to 20 km/h when you don’t notice the stopped car in front."
"I drove the GT on an off-road course here and it proved quite capable of handling the rough cottage roads that will be the limit for most owners."
"On the dirt, it seemed to work well. We drove up and down and all around a fairly challenging track and never got stuck, which is all that really matters."
"The most important drive, however, is on the road, where the Outlander was certainly comfortable and had very little roll around the corners. It helps that the new SUV has a retuned suspension, as well as more high-tensile steel in its chassis to shave about 100 kg from the previous generation."
"The second-row seats are plenty big enough for adults, now that they’ve added an extra 170 mm to the legroom. The scooped ceiling provides decent head room back there, and the seats drop in a 60/40 split for 1,792 liters of cargo room when they’re laying almost flat, and 968 liters when they’re up. There’s even 292 liters of room behind the third-row seats when they’re all up, which is pretty generous."
"I could have driven all over Oregon quite happily in the Mitsubishi....It’s very comfortable, quiet and well-equipped, and the cabin materials are of the highest quality."
"Even the basic model, which we’re otherwise ignoring here, comes right out of the box with Bluetooth connectivity, heated front seats and keyless entry."
"The larger Outlander is a worthy contender all the same, and you shouldn’t dismiss it just because you’re a snob for a name. Even if your last six cars were all Mercedes."

New 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander Designated an IIHS TOP SAFETY PICK+

Mitsubishi is demonstrating consistent excellence by earning an Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) Top Safety Pick+ for the 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander.  Mitsubishi Motors North America, Inc. was honored to learn that its completely redesigned Outlander received this award for the second year in a row. Mitsubishi Motors is the only automobile manufacturer to have its entire SUV lineup named as IIHS 2013 "Top Safety Pick +" award winners.  Only 3 of the 15 vehicles tested in the Small SUV segment received the + distinction.  2 of the 3 vehicles are produced by Mitsubishi Motors, the 7 passenger 2014 Outlander and the 5 passenger Outlander Sport both received this honorable accolade in June.  Receiving this award indicates that these vehicles offer superior crash protection and meet the tougher crash safety standers set by the non-profit vehicle research and crash test ratings agency.  The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS) rates vehicles as “good,” “acceptable,” “marginal” or “poor” based on performance in a moderate overlap frontal crash, small overlap frontal crash, side impact, rollover, plus evaluations of seat/head restraints for protection against neck injuries in rear impacts. The “Top Safety Pick+” requires a vehicle to score a “good” rating in at least four of the five tests and no less than an “acceptable” in the fifth test.  The Outlander is one of only two Small SUVs that achieve a rating of "good" in all 5 categories of the new test.  The 2014 Outlander tested notably well in the small overlap frontal crash portion of the test, which was just added this year.  The success of the new Outlander can be attributed to the many advance high-tech design features including the increased use of high-tensile steel and Mitsubishi's patented Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution (RISE) safety body construction.

Starting at an MSRP of only $22,995, the new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander comes with a long list of standard features (including seating for seven) and is one of the most fuel efficient crossover vehicles in its class with an EPA fuel mileage rating of 31 mpg highway.  For more information about the all new 2014 Mitsubishi Outlander please visit media.mitsubishicars.com.

Mitsubishi Expanding its Market

Pragati Industries Limited assembles cars and buses, of the Pajero, Vauxhall, and Mitsubishi brands. Pragati Industries Limited is based in Dhaka, Bangladesh.  Mitsubishi wants to grow the company as a whole and Pragati is holding a negotiation with Mitsubishi to produce its cars. The country's lone state-owned automobile assembling industry is now assembling Mitsubishi's Pajero car.

This proposal comes nearly two years after Pragati Industries of Bangladesh started assembling Mitsubishi cars. Mitsubishi for years has been trying to expand more to the open market, currently Mitsubishi is the 6th largest automaker in Japan and 16th in the world by production. Mitsubishi has very strong interests after companies from South Korea and Malaysia planned to set up car plants in Bangladesh to increase their growing market.

Both Mitsubishi and Bangladesh will benefit from this deal if it fully goes through. Mitsubishi will have more car plants and more of a market to appeal too and Bangladesh economy will improve. Why? Well one example stated by Md Abdul Hamid Sharif, chief executive officer of Auto Con Group, is that the cost of a Mitsubishi Pajero Car, which is sold in Japanese market, will come down by 35% to 40% in the local market, if such vehicle is manufactured in Bangladesh with minimum value addition of 50%-60%.

“Once the agreement is done, it will move Bangladesh to another level of industrialization,” said Md Abdul Hamid Sharif, chief executive officer of Auto Con Group.

This Week In 1992 Mitsubishi Released the Mirage

1993 Mitsubishi Mirage

In 1992, Mitsubishi staked its claim in the growing market for subcompact cars, and tried to boost its identity throughout the world, with the 1993 Mitsubishi Mirage.  11 years later Mitsubishi is re-releasing it's first subcompact, to be available to customers.

File:CIAS 2013 - 2014 Mitsubishi Mirage (8486939583).jpgIn 1992 the Mirage was powered by either a 1.5-liter I4 (92hp) or a 1.8-liter (113hp) engine, coming in coupe and sedan models.  This light car felt pretty quick with responsive steering on super-skinny tires.  The new Mitsubishi Mirage keeps the small compact look at a cheap price.  It is light and low in running costs, but best of all it is deceptively spacious inside.  For a car of its size the Mirage boasts a generous amount of headroom and rear legroom.  It is also eco- friendly producing no more than 110g/km of CO2 emissions, courtesy of a choice of two extremely efficient three-cylinder engine.  It is also insanely efficient providing 40 MPG combined, the most fuel efficient gas-powered non-hybrid in America.

Get the whole story of the creation of the original Mirage at http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=ebF4bjxWpqM

Possibility of a Mitsubishi 500 HP Hybrid

According to Autocar, the 21st century replacement for the Lancer Evolution is inching closer to reality. This Mitsubishi vehicle is expected to have 500-horsepower and it will be a plug-in hybrid rival to the Nissan GT-R.

The car’s viability depends on market acceptance of Mitsubishi’s new plug-in hybrid PHEV technology. The potential for this car is that it could be a “high-end, technologically sophisticated sporting option with greater all-wheel drive performance than any Lancer Evo has had before, combined with low emissions and the option of all-electric running.”

Hopefully this car will go into production and it will make its way here to the United States! Interested in learning more about Mitsubishi cars? Come see our showroom at 3460 Sunrise Highway, Wantagh, NY 11793.  Visit our Website wantaghmitsu.com
