Cell Phones and Texting NY Laws

In the state of New York it is illegal to use a hand-held cell phone while driving.  Hands-free cell phone devices, however, are legal.  Texting was banned for all drivers while behind the wheel and as of June 1, 2013 much stiffer penalties for breaking this law have been enacted.
