Apple’s New “iOS in the car”

It wasn’t too long ago that the use of cell phones became illegal while driving in your vehicle.  Apple believes that it has created the latest and most advanced new mobile initiative, “iOS in the car.”

File:Apple iOS.svgThey briefly debuted this new device at their annual Worldwide Developers Conference in San Francisco.  Apple’s effort to work with car manufacturers to further integrate its mobile operation system has been so far a success, claiming to have “95 percent car integration,” meaning the platform could be ready to work with nearly all modern cars on the road.  This device provides services like access to phone calls, iTunes, Maps and Messages within the mobile OS.  All these tools will be voice activated and hands free.

This does not necessarily put Apple at the head of the pack in the race to optimize your dashboard.  Several other companies are developing similar technology with different features.  Although the appeal of Apple’s ability to reach integration with 95 percent of cars maybe be enough to push them to the top of the list.  Even with these advancements the iOS in the car will not be available at least until 2014.
