Sue Bird is Returning to the Olympic Games..Again!

Sue Bird born October 16, 1980 looks to return to her third consecutive Olympic Games and a third gold medal as a member of the powerhouse that is the USA women’s basketball team.  Bird is a star guard for the Seattle Storm of the WNBA.  She grew up in Syosset, New York on Long Island, and at this point it feels as though the Olympics almost wouldn’t be complete without her!

Bird won gold in 2004 in Beijing and in 2008 in Athens as she looks to continue a string of dominance by the US national team that goes back to the 1990s.  Bird also has two World Championship titles to her name (2002, 2010).  Not to mention her success in college with a 2002 Naismith, Wade Trophy and Associated Press Player of the Year awards while a senior at UConn.  She's also a member of the WNBA All-Decade Team (1997-2006) and a two-time WNBA champion.  The USA Women’s Basketball Team is in Group A with Angola, China, Croatia, Czech Republic and Turkey starting on July 28th.

We look for the Long Island native to lead her team to another Gold medal for our country! Will you tune in and follow Sue Bird on her journey in London for the 2012 Olympic Games? Let us know on our Facebook page, linked HERE!
